Splish splash

On Tuesday, Jack and Sabrina, a.k.a. bumblebee and duck, got to go to music class in their Halloween costumes. After music, we had a quick lunch (quicker than we might have otherwise due to a strange man who kept offering to "babysit" Sabrina).

In the parking lot, Jack found a "puddle" (approximately 1/2 an inch of standing water on asphalt) and the two kids played in it for the better part of 10 minutes. It would have been longer except that the mommies were getting cold. The sheer glee on their faces and in their laughter was enough to make random passers-by smile and laugh as well.

Then of course there were the middle-aged women who walked by and said, in a fairly disapproving tone, that we were "brave" for letting our children make a mess like that. Sheesh. I bet their households were fun to grow up in...

It just reminded me (as I was stressing about what to get Jack for his birthday, and Christmas and for being a big brother) that I could do a lot worse than finding a puddle or a stick or a pile of leaves and giving both of us a half hour of hysterical laughter.
