Cutting us loose

Jack had a big weekend this past weekend, as did our beloved Wahoos. We spent the weekend in Richmond with Mimi and Pop my (Billy's) parents with a day trip to Charlottesville on Saturday to watch UVA incredulously come from behind to beat UNC in overtime. Getting Jack ready for the game was incredibly amusing. When asked what he should say at the game ("Go Hoos" was the intended response), he replied "Go Giants!" - a phrase which Cameron did not purposefully teach him but that he managed to pick up nonetheless. As a sidenote, when we asked Jack if he was ready to leave for the football game, he replied that he would like to stay with Mimi and Pops. Sadly for him, he had to come with us anyway. He did have a great time tailgating (he got to see a firetruck up close) and at the game (mostly because of the horse that gallops on field with the team at the beginning of the game).

When we got back on Sunday afternoon, we stopped by Buster and Lulu's to drop off some things after dinner. As usual, Jack heads immediately for Thomas the train and starts playing. After about five minutes, he says, without looking at me, "Mommy, daddy, go home." Which is not atypical; when he is ready to do something, he often says, "Jack up," or "Jack outside," or "Jack home." So naturally I asked him, "Jack, are you coming home with mommy and daddy?" His response: "No. Just mommy daddy, go home." Again, sadly for him, he had to come home with us...

  3. It's a HUGE upside! Next time, we are simply just going to leave him, like he asks.
