Do you know what the street value of this stuff is?

Snow that is.  And, in Norfolk, it's priceless. Because we're a coastal town, we don't get a lot of it.  The whole state can get snow and we'll just see cold rain out our windows.  It's infuriating.  The upside is, when we do get snow, the whole world stops.  Business and schools close.  People stay home from work.  Others - particularly those from the northeast - snicker at our total incapacitation.  Personally, I think it's great.  When you get snow once a decade, time should stand still so you can really savor it.

Having been promised snow many times only to wake up and see a green lawn outside, I was dubious when this week's forecast included big snowflakes.  But this morning, we woke up to a winter wonderland.  We went outside immediately (cobbling together various articles of clothing to imitate snow gear) and didn't look back.  The highlight for Jack was clearly wearing his new Thomas boots (courtesy of wonderful godmomma Beth) all day long...

Jack was in seventh heaven, Will was entirely unsure of what to think and Charlie was just plain irritated.  We caught snowflakes with our tongues, we stomped in the snow and Jack and Billy had their first snowball fight, wherein Jack threw a snowball and hit Billy in the exact location that will ensure we won't be having any more children.

And when we had to come inside because we were cold and wet, what else could we do but make cupcakes?  Licking the batter of course was the highlight.  Yes there were raw eggs in the batter.  FDA and your salmonella warnings be damned...

(By the way, if you didn't know, the title is a quote from one of the greatest '80's movies of all time, Better Off Dead).
